Every project deserves a final room.

Professional audio work takes time and has value but we also believe that a limited budget shouldn't prevent good music from being properly recorded, finished and released. That's why The Ninth Room offers both standard professional rates and a Supported Artist Rate for artists for whom those rates would be a genuine barrier. The Ninth Room reserves part of its time for independent and emerging artists who would otherwise struggle to access professional recording, mixing, mastering and release support.

Supported Artist places are limited and offered at The Ninth Room's discretion, based on the project, the support required and available studio time.

If money is a barrier, talk to us. The Supported Artist Rate isn't intended to exclude anyone. If The Ninth Room believes in your music, we'll talk about what you can afford — and sometimes that may mean we simply help anyway. Your budget should affect what you pay. It should not determine whether your music deserves to be heard.

Your Music Remains Yours

Artists retain 100% ownership of their music, masters and copyright. Working with The Ninth Room or releasing through Ninth Room Records does not transfer ownership of your music to us. If Ninth Room Records releases and distributes your music, our label model is deliberately simple: 90% Artist / 10% Ninth Room Records.

If your release earns nothing, you owe us nothing in royalties. And if your music becomes unexpectedly successful, we both benefit — while you still own your music. The Ninth Room Records share applies only to recording income from releases distributed through the label. We do not take a percentage of your live performances, merchandise, songwriting income, unrelated releases or wider career.

The label's share helps support the ongoing costs of distribution, promotion, Bandcamp and the infrastructure we provide to our artists — and helps us continue supporting artists who may not otherwise be able to afford these services.
